So today I heard from a friend I hadn't heard from in about a month and she had seen my posts on facebook about going to bootcamp and working out, ( I really haven't said much more than that) and she asked how much I have lost. I told her about 18 pounds now mind you it has only been a month and that is alot of weight in a month. But I am really really over weight. I am 5'10" and 230 now was 248. She was like Wow!!! But you know, it has to be a lifestyle change, and you can't just do it for a little bit... now, you had to hear her tone. She asked if I was gonna keep it off this time, well I admit, I have done the fad diets in years past, I did atkins and slimfast. I never did them very long or kept the weight off very long. But her whole attitude was you aren't gonna do this and why are you even trying.. she even said that. This time I have support of my husband, my Doctor and am doing it right.... I just can't wait till I am smaller than her ( and she isn't that small 5'2" 180) and can be like yeah, ummmhmmmm who feels stupid now

I've been seeing this a lot lately. It's just jealousy and frustration. Don't let it get to you. Just share with her what you are doing and maybe your success will motivate her to do the same.0 -
I know i should share what I am doing with her, but at this point I don't even want to, I have been the FAT friend for so long I feel like they want me to stay like that ( in all my groups of friends) I am not even sure I wanna stay friends with her at this point. I guess the story doesn't sound that bad. You had to hear it and how it went. it really hurt... Maybe I am just being over sensitive0

No I'd be mad also. People have a tendency to say things that are totally rude and out of place when someone is on their journey. Best of luck!0

I'd be hurt and upset. I don't blame you for thinking you might not want to be her friend. She's either jealous or has no tact. Sounds like she's given you some motivation.0

Keep it up and shut her up for good! Show her what your made of! Use it as motivation to reach your goals!0
-
Try to just let it go. Negative people and their comments won't stop you!! With 'friends' like that, who needs enemies!
Good for you and all you have accomplished! :flowerforyou:0 -
The quickest way to get someone to criticize you is to achieve something. Keep up the achievements!0

I don't really understand how so many people can act like this! Especially "friends" and even spouses and significant others for crying out loud... It's ridiculous.
Today I was talking about how my shirt didn't feel as tight as it normally did because I've lost a few pounds and my "friend" was like "Well, good for you".... only it was in a very condescending tone (she's bigger than me, and shorter which doesn't help) It made me so irritated! I just think it's better to not say anything sometimes. It's just jealousy, I swear!!!
I am very fortunate that my fiance has been so wonderful about it. I cannot believe the things I hear on this forum about peoples spouses.... those are the people that should be the most supportive.... the people you look to for support. My fiance had given me nothing but praise and more encouragement. That is exactly what a partner SHOULD be doing. That goes for "friends" as well!!!0 -
