Hello;
OK so after going over (and not by a little bit) the past 3 days today I watched what I ate carefully and even rejected a friends homemade chocolate chip cookies :( I went for a 40 minute walk with my Son which earned an unexpected 198 calories. Tonight I decided on 2 piece of salmon, rice and added brussel sprouts because I saw I still had a lot of calories left. Well thanks for nothing brussel sprouts they only took off 70 calories! I think it would be weird going over at 8pm to wolf down cookies now so any ideas on something I can do to use up the majority of the calories without feeling like I'm going to pop (really really stuffed) OR do I just call it a day and try not to be so careful tommorow?

    How many calories did you eat today and what is your goal?

    It's just one day - don't worry about it. I wouldn't eat any more unless I were hungry. Then, half an english muffin with peanut butter would do the trick. But really, down one day isn't going to do anything bad and will probably even out going over for a couple.
  • If your stuffed just call it a day for tonight and plan your meals out better tomorrow a day of being under 1200 is not going to send you into starvation mode especially if youve been over eatting but if you get hungry dont stop yourself from having a healthy snack

    I tend to look at the calories over a week rather than just one day (the iPhone app makes it easy to do this).
    I would either eat a little something (healthy) today or just leave it for today and plan better tomorrow.

    If it were me I wouldn't force myself to eat, especially since I had 3 days of going over. Maybe you will balance your 3 over days with your one under day.... just my 2 cents

    Thanks everyone for the quick replies. I'm just going to complete my food entries and call it a day. Tommorow one or two of those cookies is going to have a rough day ;)

    Just don't fall into this pattern :)
    Over eating for half the week then under eating the rest will not achieve your goals!

    Enjoy a cookie for me though. Yum... lol

    Don't worry about it. Look at it this way. You just added another day or two to your goals. The body doesn't care what you have in mind. It tries to survive. It would also depend on what your macronutrient make up was. It's no big deal, your metabolism or body won't blow a fuse or any other nonsense as long as your nutrition is good, One could eat this way all the time and if you're careful you could just end up taking 4 steps forward and 3 steps back. That's a long way to get to one step net. but over the course of a year, you've wasted 8months. This is totally fine as long as you understand this and thus you don't get upset when you wonder why x,y, or z isn't happening, then do what others do and start upping the exercise and cutting calories further. The thing I like about this community is that it breeds and understanding that too few calories is a no no. The problem is people don't understand WHY it's a no no or still try to do things too fast which usually equals over training and under eating.And don't worry about eating past a certain time at night. Much research suggests that eating later is beneficial, or surely can be beneficial, as long as proper intake is still maintained. Forget the whole "going straight to the hips" because you're not awake and moving nonsense. One still burns a ton of calories while they sleep, and this is a key time the body relegates many resources to aid in recovery. What happens many times is exactly what you hinted at! : I can't eat, it's after 8! Oh well. Then you do this a few days and the next thing you know you're under your weekly intake by 3000 calories and your body wonders if it should save fat for the coming turmoil you're obviously getting ready to endure. : )
