Exercise and breakfast Question

I generally get up at 0545 to get in my workout. I do the elliptical and/or treamill. I burn about 400 calories. I hear its best to eat within 30 minutes of exercise. I dont eat before I workout because 1)I am not hungry 2) I never have 3) I have 4 kids under 5 1/2 and try to get on the treadmill/elliptical and ready for the day before any of them get up. So I generally have my smoothie after the 3 youngest leave with DH. So its usually not within 30 minutes of working out, but more like an hour. Is this something that will affect my weight loss? Or is it not such a big deal since I am not doing any serious strength training? Thanks!
