Does anyone use any of his tapes or videos? I have a couple of them and thought of starting to use them again. Just wondering what people thought because there isn't a group for him.

When I lost 85lbs about 14 yrs ago, I used quite a few of his tapes. I thought they were fun when I used them before.

I say go for it and use them. Anything that gets us moving more than usual is good. If you find that you are not getting your heartrate up where it belongs to burn calories you might want to look into something else.

    Good luck!!

My mom just let me borrow her Richard Simmons VHS and DVD's. I've been doing aerobics and walking pretty much daily for 25 days now, and I couldn't make it through more than 30 minutes of the DVD I did Thursday. And let me just say, my heart rate was up, and I was sweating up a storm. I think I worked harder in that video than some of the other aerobic videos that I've been doing. Plus it was more fun because I actually know the music on them and all. They don't just show really skinny fit people doing the work outs, which makes me feel better about doing them too. I say go for it!

I have the original Sweatin' to the Oldies and I LOVE it. It's so much fun to do and a really great cardio workout.

I used to wake up every morning extra early when I was in high school to watch his show. I would drink black coffee and eat a half grapefruit during his 'talk segment. I didn't matter that I didn't weight 90 pounds, he was just so inspiring.

For the second half of the show, I'd sweat my butt off and workout with him... and I'd do anything to be able to do that again.. He was AWESOME! He'd be talking to women and they would cry.. I would cry right then too! Love, love, love the man!

So, if you can do it, do it!

As for me, I'm going to go search right now for some videos too!
    Cheers!

I have not used them in a long time. I remember them being fun. and if you can work out and have fun all the better. What is important is you are moving!

I recently bought all of his DVD's from his website. he is motivating and the fact is he has been there and you don't always have to look at skinny girls in their two pieces ( no offense) they are normal people in sweats and t-shirts.
I know it makes me feel better knowing that there are people big like me trying to make a change!

    Love Richard!! :)

I think they should be required to wear his outfit whenever working out, that would be so hot! lol

That is such a good question! Actually, most research says that he was a severely overweight child and that he battled obesity for years using diet pills and unhealthy weight loss programs. I wonder what he would think about MFP?
