Chocolate Chip Cookies (with nuts)
These are really healthy for you but SOOOOOOO GOOD!

2 c whole wheat or gluten free flour
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp fine grind sea salt
1 1/2 c semi-sweet mini chocolate chips
1/2 c chopped nuts (I omit these because my ds is allergic!)
3/4 c maple syrup
1/2 c apple sauce
1/2 c ground flax seed
3 tbsp water
2 tsp vanilla extract

1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees
2. Combine flour, baking sodea, fine grind sea salt, semi sweet mini chocolate chips, and nuts in a large bowl
3. Combine maple syrup, apple sauce, ground flax seed, water, vanilla extract in a medium bowl
4. Add wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and mix well
5. Scoop spoon-sized portions onto a lightly oiled baking sheet
6. Bake 8-10 minutes or until edges are browned

The are about 45 calories per cookie! They are very good!

These sound wonderful!!! I've added it to my myrecipes.com site. Have a GREAT day!
  • They are good. I bake these, and then I put a couple in one of those snack size ziplock baggies (about 3) and I freeze them. I grab them when I need to go out and want to take a snack along. My trainer taught me that!

I have to say we just baked these, and no one liked them, my kids said they tasted like cardboard bird seed? don't know what that means, a little disappointed, but maybe just not a kid recipe, I wouldn't try them myself because of the choc chips, and the maple syrup, don't eat that kinda stuff, but it's not a kid approved cookie, it was tested by 9 kids, none of them even finished one! :grumble:, healthy snacks are trial and error with the kids.

but congrats on becoming a zumba instructor, I was certified two years ago, it's a blast!
