INSANITY Tips and Help

I just started INSANITY on Sunday (I will finish Day 6 today). I am curious what tips and suggestions people have to get max. results and what type of success you had.

1) Calorie intake - I seem to be getting mixed reviews. I felt like the suggested number with the meal plan was a bit high, but hear that is actually helpful? MFP is recommending closer to 1600 for me...

2) Suggested foods?

3) Additional exercise in addition to INSANITY?

4) what works best??
