February is heart health awareness month and today is womens heart awareness day. Coronary artery disease is too often overlooked in women. Women don't have the same symptoms as men do. When a women is experiencing myocardium infarction aka (heart attack) they don't have they chest pains and shortness of breath that men do. Some signs for women are jaw pain, maybe what fells like a tooth ache, or tingling in the left arm. So be aware of the signs and symptoms and try to at least check your blood pressure when you at wal-greens or wal-mart it's FREE! and it could save your life.

  • Thanks for reminding us women that our symptoms can be completely different from a man suffering a heart attack.

    I was taught....STIR

    S - ask the person to...Smile. :o)
T - ask the person to Talk - to speak a simple coherent sentence.
    "It's a sunny day outside"
R - ask the person to Raise both arms. (like in a stickup)

If they have a crooked smile, do not speak coherently or have an uneven reach it could be signs of a heart attack.

    :flowerforyou: Thank you!
  • Remember symptoms can also be as subtle as fatigue dizziness and palpitations. Don't overlook anything out of the ordinary. Report it to your doctor!

The problem is I get heart palpitations, dizziness and fatigue everyday too so I could never tell if it was more serious x

I have a heart arrhythmia myself. Just being aware of those things, communicating with your doctor and knowing when it's no longer the same old dizziness or palpitations is the key.

Great advise, however I believe these steps are to identify if someone may be having a stroke. Still very important information to have.

These are signs of a stroke, not a heart attack.
