I was chattin with my son earlier this week and he said to try green tea. He even places a bag of green tea over his coffee ground before he brews his coffee, I went to the health store today and picked up two kinds one a bag tea the other loose leaf. Has any one ever used Guayaki Yerba Mate Organic Green Tea?

I just use Lipton green tea and add cinnamon to it. Sometimes I throw in another flavored tea bag with it.
  • Tea is something to drink if you like it. I've heard the spiel on its 'health benefits' and honestly, I don't think drinking it in your coffee is the way to go - its just a waste of tea and of coffee. For one, putting additives in tea tends to knock out its benefits (all those antioxidants aren't too picky about which oxides they bond with) and for two, the temperature to brew coffee vs. teas are a bit different - coffee brews lower than tea.

Also, Yerba mate is a different plant from tea.

White tea, green tea, oolong and black tea have the same source plant (tea bush). White tea is dried young growth. Green is mature plant which has air dried. Oolong has partially fermented before drying. Black tea has oxidized before drying.

Try going to a tea shop rather than a health food store - someplace like Teaopia or David's tea has got a wide variety, some with other popular 'superfoods' in them like berries, and can tell you how best to brew your tea for taste (which is also when you supposedly get good health effects... But honestly, life's too short! Just drink it if you like it!)

Well, I am just in the shake and bake part of my diet. Trying hard to keep the sugars down as best I can...
