**** ALERT **** this isn't the topic for you if cake is a weakness of yours. I'm not trying to be mean or insensitive :flowerforyou:
I just wondered if any of you like to create cakes for your kids or other loved ones, and if you mind sharing some pics. I love doing this for my kids, especially since I found a pretty awesome fondant recipe....it's so much fun to create with!
Here are some of my more recent ones that I did for my kids. I wish I had a pic of the Sponge Bob one I did for my friend...it was pretty awesome!
Franny K Stein (sp?) for my daughter's 8th last year...
My youngest daughter's 1st Birthday cake....
My oldest daughter's 11th Birthday cake (I felt awful for it being so plain...all she gave me to go with was the colour blue and HAD to be a Skittles cake lol
and finally my son's 16th birthday cake. He had nachos for supper AND dessert! I LOVED making this one!!

I loved working with fondant (homemade marshmallow), but I have cats and a small house, so it was quite a pain finding a cat-free zone to roll it out. I bought a ton of stuff, made one cake and then sold all of my supplies. lol
I absolutely love your nacho cake. What a neat idea.0 -
I love to make cakes, I usually get roped into all the birthday cakes for family/friends, I'm too lazy to upload pictures though lol I totally want cake now though!! maybe just a cupcake.....0

Ya, we're lucky the cat is totally not interested in being around the table, or kitchen even. The lil one on the other hand....lol
Tyvm! I got the recipe from the latest Food Network mag. It was a Superbowl theme...but it worked for my son as he loves nachos lol.0 -
Cool idea!
I'm baking a blue cake right now actually. I'm making blue and white cake balls for my future SIL's bridal shower.
I can post pics tomorrow once they're complete.
I have a few pics of stuff I've done in the past for my munchkin.
Nemo cake for 4th Birthday. Took me 3 hours to decorate! LOL
Cookie Monster Cupcakes for 6th Birthday this past year. So easy and cute!
Two other ones that I've done (that I don't have pics of unfortunately) is beach cupcakes with teddy grahams floating in the water on lifesaver (gummy) floats, goldfish (crackers) swimming in the water and a sandy shore (brown sugar). Also, a grassy cake with lady bugs.0 -
Just made this Pirates of the Caribbean cake last week.
<a href="http://s170.photobucket.com/albums/u255/cherriewilliams/?action=view¤t=086.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i170.photobucket.com/albums/u255/cherriewilliams/086.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>
Well, I tried three different links from photobucket and couldn't get it to work.0 -

Aww ty!
It's a cheese cake,
the chips were pie dough cut into triangles,
olives were black all sorts with 'middle removed and sliced
green liquorice for onions
orange tinted sour cream for cheese sauce
strawberry jam with chopped up swedish fish for salsa
chocolate covered peanuts (although it called for covered raisins)
Its was super easy, and I even got to enjoy a slice without ruining my day (or starving for it) LOL0 -

Ya, I was kind of scared to post this topic. It's definitely a weakness of mine. Fortunately every party they've had I've gotten to enjoy a slice with them by planning ahead and weighing it out
My friends ask when they see the kids cakes...I don't mind though (as long as it's not too tough lol)0 -

I'll find the link and post it here....it's quite easy and inexpensive. They call it a different name though if I remember correctly...

I forgot about these melting snowman cake pops my daughter and I made for this year's Christmas party. They're a little wonky. She thought it would be cute to use the biggest and smallest eyeballs she could find for that Nightmare Before Christmas look. Me and my OCD did not enjoy the asymmetry.

Your nacho cake turned out cool! I, too, subscribe to the food network magazine and that cake looks like SO much fun to make....I also like the hamburger cake one too. I'll have to try it sometime. My coworkers would get a kick out of it!0

For his 2nd birthday I went with a cake from this local baker: http://www.yelp.com/biz/house-of-cake-seattle
And it was in the shape of Lightning McQueen from Cars.
I made this cake for my son's party at the zoo last year, only instead of a cat I made it a tiger.

For his dinner party with family only, I made this cake:
http://www.marthastewart.com/339242/monkey-cake
Which was amazing. I only make Martha Stewart cake recipes now. I've since made her lemon meringue layer cake and the devil's food chocolate cake.
This year I am doing these cupcakes, only instead of a lollipop I am using outer space themed lollipops (shapes of planets and rocketships) with silver and black glitter:

I loved seeing the things you guys have made! This is a great topic.0 -
I don't know how to upload but here's a link to my pinterest board. This isn't all of them but it's a pretty good sampler. I actually have a three tier Eagle Scout cake for my nephew that I'm delivering tomorrow. Hopefully that will come together well!
