Heart Rate Monitor Help

Options
Hello there. I've never been one for gadgets, but as I've been training for a half marathon, and I keep having friend suggest that I get one. So, here's what I need my ideal HRM to have.

1) HRM
2) Watch
3) Pedometer (I need to figure out how far I am walking)
4) A programmable interval timer. I want to be able to do jog/sprint intervals as well as circuit training intervals.

If I can find one with all of those things, I will buy it. Anyone know of such a device?

When researching HRM to figure out which one would meet my needs, the consistent recommendation was the Polar brand. Looks like they have a tool on their site which helps you figure out which ones will best meet your needs. http://www.polar.fi/en/products/product_finder

Also try to goggle with the search terms. It may give a better idea.

I don't know what all those things mean (=p) but I just started using a fitbit and love it. Look at their website (fitbit.com) and see if it has what you need.

I have the Polar F4. It doesn't have a pedometer but I have been using a separate pedometer for years and they last way longer than the heart rate monitor for about $12.00. Hope this helps. Good Luck.

I just got the Polar F7 from Amazon for around $70 and it is very nice. It stores up to 99 workouts. You enter your personal info and it calculates calories burned, fat burn minutes, fitness minutes and a bunch of other stuff. it does not have a pedometer. I kinda question the "calories burned" calc because it doesn't match the value calculated using the formula from the Journal of Sports Sciences, but it is well worth the money none the less. I had a cheaper TImex HRM and it worked but it had this one button that did everything which made it very easy to start another session that would then erase all your previous workout into...not cool after busting your butt.
