I know that there's no miracle drink when it comes to weight loss, but I am just wondering if any of you know if Lipton brand green tea will aid at all with metabolism and weight loss. I have been strictly drinking water, but I like green tea as well and am wondering if there's any truth to the matter of it being beneficial for weight loss.

I've read that green tea boosts the metabolism for a few hours. I can't prove the theory though. The brand shouldn't matter. I prefer green tea with mango or some other flavor mixed in.0

I used to be a big green/white tea drinker before I started MFP and I still love to drink tea. I don't add any sugar/honey/sweetener or anything that would add calories to tea either. I never noticed any weight loss from drinking a lot of green tea. I didn't start losing weight until I started calorie counting and exercise. I don't think there's any other easy way to lose weight other than through hard work and dedication.0

I love green tea! The most useful part I've discovered is it's help in digestion. Keeping digestion steady and regular definitely helps to lose the weight. A hot cup before bed eases tension on the intestine, and a hot cup in the morning provides caffeine to wake you up, and the hot water in the morning also jump starts your metabolism. The 17day diet book talks a lot about the benefits if you're interested. Hope this helps.0

I like Lipton Green Teas, but I'm skeptical as to how much actual green tea is in it vs real brewed tea.0

I'm not sure if Lipton is the best that's out there, but I'm sure it has at least a basic amount of the good stuff that green tea has to offer. Caffeine and antoxidants in there, I'm sure. I drink it and it makes me feel more energized. It doesn't taste as strong as Tazo tea from Starbucks, I bet they are jam packed with tea-goodness. Also, even Lipton if it's not the best of the best, drinking it is just as good for you as drinking water at the very least and helps to cleanse your system.0

I've read that it takes 7-8 cups a day to get the fat burning effect, but I've also read that it takes 2-4.
I've been consciously increasing my green tea intake (I usually brew 4 tea bags at once and make iced tea with it and aim to have this twice a day) because green tea is overall good for you, but I haven't noticed any significant help in the weight loss area. Green tea is good for antioxidants though.

You would have to drink a gallon of green tea a day for it to cause any increase in weight loss, and you would also more than likely be in the bathroom the whole day0

I used to drink about 2 mugs of green tea a day last year for a few months. I stuck to a healthy diet and exercised 3 to 4 times a week. I went from 145lb to 121lb.
I enjoyed the taste of it and the more I drank it the longer I let it brew for. I don't have it as often as I did last year. Maybe a couple of mugs a week maybe. I enjoy regular tea with skimmed milk or water.0
