Hi everyone! I am new here! I have some friends that are members here and are always saying how great it is and that the support here is really good too. I am a 38 yr old SAHM. My name is Allison. I am looking to get back into shape. I don't want to be stick thin, just healthy. I had a baby girl almost 18 mos ago and finally decided it was time I did something for myself. I have gained quite a bit of weight from being pregnant and just being lazy. I looked in the mirror the other day and didn't like what I saw. I can stand to lose about 40 pounds...more would be good. My daughter keeps me so busy that I don't usually think about what or how much I eat. That is another reason I decided to do this. I figure that if I eat healthier food, my boyfriend, his dad and ultimately my daughter will all eat better too. Plus if I am more active, they will be too. I want to be able to keep up with my daughter now and in the years to come. I look forward to getting to know you all. Good luck and talk to you all soon!!

Its great that you are looking toward your future and want to be around for your kids. I am in the same boat but 10 years your junior and without the pregnancies. My wife and I have 4 kids so I know all about being busy.
  • Hi! It does sound like you and your wife quite busy! How old are the kids? Boys? Girls? I have a 17yr old daughter, a 12 yr old son and an 18 month old daughter. I look forward to getting to know everyone a little better over the next few months!! Good luck to everyone!!

We have 1 boy and 3 girls. Our son is the oldest at 9. Our girls are 7, 5 and 3. All have birthday within the next 3 months so those numbers will rise. Between me being a full time student, having 2 part time jobs, the kids in cub scouts, girl scouts and soccer we are always going to or coming from somewhere.

Welcome to the forum, Allison! You've come to the right place. There are lots of supportive folks on here. Drag up a keyboard and join in the fun. I'm Ken. 49. Two kids - boy 22, girl 18. So far, 48 pounds down on the way to about 120 down.

By the way, you made me chuckle. You said you're looking forward to getting to know everyone. There's several people on here ... and that's just an estimate.

  • Hi, nice to meet you. I just joined tonight also after meeting a lady on facebook who has a support weight loss journey page. She said she was using this site, so I decided to give it a try. I am a 40 yr old SAHM of 5 boys ages 21, 17, 5, 4,and 2. I decided I needed to do something after having 2 misscarriages this last year. My Doctor said it was my weight and that I was a borderline diabetic. It really hurt to loose and hear that I can maybe change the outcome by getting down to my goal weight. I need to loose about 40-50 lbs and I will be a heathly weight for my age and height. So excited to meet other people that are after the same goal. Nice to meet everyone!
  • Nice to meet you too. I have sooooo many reasons of why I want to do this and believe it or not, one of them was the miscarriage that I had last weekend. I had a rough week. The week before I lost the baby, I found out I was pregnant, my friend went to the hospital and then later that week she passed away. She had pancreatic cancer and her organs just shut down. I had the miscarriage 2 days after my friend passed away. On top of all that, my other friend passed away on Dec 30, 2011 at the age of 48 from a heart attack...all of those situations were a part of the epiphany that I had. I just realized I needed to take care of myself if I ever wanted any more kids, to live a long and healthy life with my kids and boyfriend, etc. Sometimes you need to get knocked on your butt before you realize what is important and what really matters.
