Heart monitor

I have a question about heart monitors. I have just recently started a personal training workout program, but on the days when I work out on my own, I would love to track my calories. I have seen people wearing these watches that count calories. I asked one of those people about it & she had a band around her chest plus the watch. I am just curious if anyone out there has any recommendations on heart monitors (yes or no), the type, brand, prices, etc....thanks!

I love, love, love my heart rate monitor!

I started out with a cheaper one (MIO Drive) but switched to a Polar FT60.

The Polar one is more expensive (> $150) but in retrospect, I would have just started with it, instead of starting with a cheaper one.

It tracks my calories burned, and gives me an accurate picture of how hard my body is working - allowing me to know when to slow down, or push harder. And it's cute!

Plus - I know my calories burned are accurate, I get different numbers from the MFP database.
  • I love my heart rate monitor! It's great to have a better idea of how many calories you are truly burning.

I have the polar FT60- which is one of the high end ones.

My friend had the FT7 which is less high tech and i think only really counts calories but is much cheaper.

Check out the polar website -they describe all of their products and you can choose whats right for your needs.
  • I love my Polar FT4 HRM it's great! It's very user friendly, whatever you do don't buy the one Walmart offers, it's complicated and I never did get it to work properly.

Sounds like the polar FT60 will be my next investment.
    Does Walmart carry it?

I have the MIO petite, it only counts calories & gives you your HR. I like it, it is very accurate. It was $60, pretty inexpensive when compared to other brands, but it still was a sacrifice. I didn't want one with a lot of techy stuff on it. I only need the basics.

I love my HRM! I have a Garmin FR60w. It was on the more exspensive side ($199) but it came it the watch, the chest strap, a footpod (for tracking distance while running/walking, and a usb stick that connects everything wirelessly to the computer so you can see all the details from each use. I love love love it. The watch is pink, a little girly, not to big, and awesome.

It really depends on what you use it for... They have specific ones for specific sports or activities... Polar I would say is the best brand... I have the FT7 and and I love it... It has 2 different modes... Fat burning mode and Fitness mode... I keeps your data and you can look at all the days you work out as well.... It's very simple to use... around $109.00
