OK, OK... It's a Protein Shake... but I promise you this one IS delicious! I was given the recipe a bit ago and never tried it because... well, it's a protein shake. However, with it tasting THIS good and having THESE kinds of numbers -- I will probably never have a regular old Reese's again! This was the perfect after workout treat tonight... especially because I am typically not hungry after working out and it has milk and chocolate which help muscles re-build. (I guess... not a nutrition expert here). Plus, I am still drinking it so the enjoyment does go on and on...

Here's the Original Recipe:

1 scoop chocolate Muscle Milk 100% Whey Protein
1 TBSP PB2 (powdered peanut butter)
1/2 cup Almond Breeze almond milk (unsweetened)
1/2 cup Ice

** Blend it all up and enjoy!

I had to make some adjustments for mine... I am allergic to tree nuts so I used 1% lowfat milk... and started with 1/2 cup but it was too thick (probably had too much ice) for my Magic Bullet Blender -- so I added another 1/4 cup milk. Here's the numbers on my protein shake with the alteration of 6 oz lowfat milk: 261 calories, 18 carbs, 13 sugar, 38 g protein. Numbers, I believe, are better with the almond milk... but this will do for me!

... I promise... it's gooooood!

Sounds wonderful!! It would be cheaper for me to make my own rather than get one similar to this at the gym. Thanks for sharing!

This is pretty much what I drink every morning for breakfast, except I use Smuckers natural peanut butter instead of PB2 and I use 1 cup unsweetened almond milk. I also add spinach if I have any on hand. You can't even taste it.

Oh yeah. People call them "green" smoothies, If you have a good blender it should incorporate it well. The other flavors in the shake will mask any spinach flavor. I don't even really think it has any. I usually add some peppermint extract or instant coffee granules for more flavor.

hmmmm... coffee would add to this... or coffee iinstead of the PB2.

    Thanks for some ideas!
  • That sounds soooo good. Lately, I've been drinking a protein shake with chocolate protein powder, 1 tbsp of sugar free chocolate syrup, 2 ice cubes, 1/2 banana, and 8 oz of water. So yummy and filling! I'm definitely going to have try peanut butter!!

If you Google PB2 they have some stores that sell it but Wally World isn't one of them. They're mostly dr's offices or health food stores. Last time I looked, there weren't any near me. I'm thinking the substitution of real PB might work okay.
