Skinny *****? Good or bad?

So I just got the Skinny ***** books (3 of them, I think) as a gift from my very trim aunt, who swears by them. I'm not a vegan or vegetarian, but I've heard from my classmates that they're godsends. On the other hand, I've read reviews saying that they're actually really awful. I'm trying to cook my own things but I've heard that Hungry Girl has too many processed foods, too.
What do you think? Any ideas?

I've read the first one, and it's nothing more than common sense: limit processed foods, eat lots of vegetable and fruit, exercise, drink water. The authors advocate going totally vegan, but I wouldn't call that a silver bullet for weight loss. I'm sure that there are overweight vegans. You'll get out of it what you put into it.

Hey, so I just finished this. At first I thought it was a funny book kind of hurtling insults at you. It made me think - I was already wanting to cut down on my meat, and after reading their descriptions I definitely feel more motivated to do that.

However, some of what they say is exaggerated, not really true, and definitely not proven. When they list all those diseases you can get from various stuff - be sceptical!! Just because something is "connected" as they say, or "linked", doesn't mean there is any valid correlation. They abuse statistics for their own purposes (and I hate being lied to).

Other than that, yeah, pretty much common sense. I liked it.
