Celery

Okay this might sound a little stupid but bare with me.
All my life I have been told that celery took more calories to digest, then it actually gave you. It was what my mother and my brother have always told me; my brother is the kind of person who knows a lot of useless facts so I normally trust him. I have been munching on celery for a few days and haven't bothered to log any of it because of what my mom and brother have always told me.
So, are they wrong and I still get calories from celery and should log it? Or are they right and I shouldn't use the time to log it?

It doesn't have many calories, so if you dont want to log then that's no big deal.
I watch things like carbs and sugars as well, and these can add up in vegetables, so I tend to just record everything, rather than agonise over " do I record this? What about that?"0
