Question about goal settings

On my goals page it says "Calories burned during normal activity" which I believe is my BMR, right? My says 1740. Is that the number of calories I would burn just sitting around. Can that be changed? Most BMR calculators say 1370-1420. That just seems to be a little high.

If I understand correctly, your BMR is a caculation based upon your weight that tells you how many calories your body currently needs to just function laying around. It will change as your weight changes for instance at my current weight I'm aroud 1800 something and at my goal weight it will be around 1300 something.
Your BMR does not take into any account any activity you do such as exercising, walking, shopping, cleaning. It is a number based solely on what your body would need at your current weight to lay in bed, so what your heart, brain, lungs, etc. will need. This is why it is highly encouraged to eat back exercise calories, especially if you are participating in a very vigourous exercise routine and eating at a significant calorie deficet from your BMR.
I burn about 500 extra calories on days I exercise so with my current calorie defiecit of 1510 I am sure that I am at least netting 1200 calories, which will require me to eat back some of my exercise calories if not all (1510-500=1000 which is below 1200 so I will need to eat at least an addtional 200 calories)
I hope this helps.0
