Spike day successes for women?

Hi all,
Curious if there are any women who've had success with doing a spike day, or who have hit plateaus and started spiking to get things going again. I've lost 16 pounds so far, but have been within the same 2-3 pound range since early December, and am getting really tired of it.
I've done some reading around on the forums, and there are several guys who've had success. However, I'm convinced that women's metabolisms are a bit different -- for evolutionary reasons, we hold onto fat a little more stubbornly, and take longer to lose it.
So? Success? Comments?
