Walking/jogging

I have walking/jogging for about 2 miles last couple of days. What are your suggestiond on how to log that I have built myself up where im trying to jog more each day. I do short distance jog a little walk a little and so on. How should I log that? Im not exactly sure how fast im doing either I know im going faster than a mod pace sometimesi feel like if I walk any faster I will be jogging.

I find that mfp does a pretty decent job of figuring cals burned if you input your height, weight, etc correctly.
There are apps for your phone (I use MyTracks from Android market) which will show your distance, time etc.
It even will show your fastest segments, avg speed.

I go by my GARMIN GPS...it tells me distance and miles per hour. The GARMIN was a gift. Not sure of the cost. but I absoslutely love it. When I log I usually log on the minimum rather than log and wonder if I have perhaps "cheated" myself....only my body know ths the perfect math of calories consumed and those that I burn.0

I time myself. Jog 5minutes and walk for 2minutes. That makes it easy. Also to know your pace, you need to know your distance and time. The internet has plenty of pace calculators.0

Personally I time how long I was out for regardless of whether I am running or jogging - as long as it was continuous. If I stop then I take that time off - chronometer watch handy for that - and calculate each portion separately. Then on the assumption I know the distance I have travelled I work out the average speed and enter that for calorie count. (average speed = distance/time).
If you stay in the UK - AA website handy for giving distances if you are using a route that takes you alongside roads. Alternatively if you are using cycle paths then many of these are recorded on sustrans website and council websites.0 -
Time yourself and figure out your average pace. I don't have a smartphone, but I use the runkeeper.com website to map out my route and get my distance, then add my time to calculate calories burned. If I do more running than walking, I'll log it as running. If it's more walking than running, I'll log it as walking.0

Thanks all....i do have a smart phone so I will check out what apps I can get. My goal is to eventually jog the whole time, but I have never been able to jog very long. Maybe since ive lost more weight ill be able to do more. Thanks again0

Runkeeper has a free app for iphone (and I guess other smart phones) that tracks distance and times as well as a ball park calorie burn based on age weight speed and climb.0
