Sharp stomach pains after long run

I've been running 5k's once a week consistently for 4 months. Last night, after a night of binge eating I did a 'mercy run' to burn the excess off - 8.6k's in just under an hour. This was at about 11pm-to-midnight.

However since I got home, stocked up on about 2 litres of water and slept I've noticed some pains in my stomach - especially when eating.

It's lunchtime now and I'm starving but I keep getting these sharp pains. They go away pretty quickly, I don't know how to describe it - it's almost as if there's a gas buildup that I can't get rid of? That's a guess. Sorry if that's TMI, but I just want to know what's going on...?

Has anyone experienced this or at least have an idea of what I can do?

It could be any number of things depending on where the pain is. The stomach is kind of a broad sort of area. If it persists after 24 hours, I would go see a doctor.

Give your body some time to digest before you go out on a run. I get stomach cramps if I eat too much and then exercise to compensate. Are you adding any exercise to your routine apart from the 5ks? You might be just stressing your body out.

Btw, good job on the 5ks!

    Wow, that's probably it, aye?

The major difference between this time and EVERY other run, is I ate and then almost immediately ran afterwards... that's gotta be it! Thank you!

As for adjusting my exercise routine, I started running the 8k's on Sundays last week. I almost got too lazy and didn't run the 8k's last night, but I guess overeating pushed me over the edge to keep it constant. So, I'm definately aiming to run another 8k's next sunday.
