What new healthy food have you started eating and LOVE?

I decided I wanted to give my body a better chance at health by choosing nutrient dense food. So I am often looking up nutrient quantities and quality of foods I haven't tried before.
Along the way I am finding new foods for me that I love.
My snack packs are great .Cocoa nibs mixed with goldenberries, pepitas, almonds, goji berries and sesame seeds. Especially the dried goldenberries. I like goldenberries so much I am looking into how I can grow them so I always have a supply.
Green smoothies. They look weird but I really like the pinapple, mint, ginger, banana, and baby spinach ones. Taste just like pinapple juice and banana but you get a great energy jolt too. Better than coffee in the morning.
Using coconut oil on my salads.
So anyone else dicovered a new healthy food love?

Quinoa. We started eating it about a year ago and now we have it at least once a week. It's a great substitute for white rice or when you don't have time to cook brown rice.0
-
Broccoli. I cook mine in the oven with garlic cloves and pepper until the little trees are slightly brown, then I add lemon. I eat it like this every day. It's so tasty.0
-
Kale. Good cooked and in the chip variety.0
-
Fage Total 0% Greek Yogurt. Every flavor is luscious and rich! (It also has more protein than most other yogurts.)0
-
Banana "ice cream." Ground flax goes in everything I bake.0

Bump for later.0

Me too! I have 6 cups in my fridge right now. I even got my picky toddler to love them with cinnamon. She dips her apples in it0 -
Spaghetti squash!!
its my new pasta!0 -
I've never been one to eat healthy ergo my need to lose weight. I have started eating things more low-cal, low-fat....I have fallen in love with quaker's chocolate crunch gluten free rice cakes with 10g of whole grain...maybe not the healthiest of foods, but its
healthier than what I have been eating :happy:0 -
ricotta cheese--I mix it with a variety of different things for dessert.0

Brussel sprouts. They get such a bad rap, WHY!? Parboil, drizzle with olive oil and fresh ginger or garlic, and roast. Mmm.0

Butternut squash, apple cider vinegar as salad dressing, almond and coconut milk,0

Zucchini. And Cuties clementines. I've been eating the heck out of these two things lately. I could bake zucchini every night. So good. I've been doing this thing where I "fake" fry them by cutting them into little fry shapes, adding some EVOO and sprinkling them with whole wheat bread crumbs, garlic powder, and Parmesan cheese. They aren't coated with the bread crumbs and cheese, but when they bake they have just enough of this awesome crispy crunchiness that totally tastes better than the restaurant fried zucchini I'd enjoyed in the past. *love*
I just started enjoying Kashi Go Lean Crunch cereal too. It's awesome!0 -
also spagetti squash and shirtaki noodles0

Many! Kale, quinoa, ginger root zested into a tea or for homemade Chinese takeout, and my ultimate fave is chickpeas! They are extremely good for you!0

Baked asparagus, i'm in love with it. Little bit of olive oil and fresh ground pepper, bake at 400 for 15 minutes.0

^^^ This!
And steel cut oats.. soooo yummy!0 -
Ditto on the goldenberries! I love them first thing in the morning when my mouth is dry. They are so tart and quenching. I am out of them right now.0

Ruby red grapefruit with (don't hate) splenda. So juicy and yummy! Love the aroma, too! Feels like a bright pick me up! :flowerforyou:0

oooh PB2!! It's really low in calories, and is great especially when mixed in my shakeology! Ooooh, delish!0

Frozen vegetables, especially the Japanese stir-fry mix in baggies (broccoli, red pepper, onion, water chestnuts). I get home, dump a bag in the wok, stir in a little tamari and rooster sauce, a couple of egg whites, and *voila* delicious lunch, 3 servings of vegetables, and 100% filling all in under 10 minutes.
Seriously if it wasn't for frozen vegetables I would be so malnourished, during busy cycles those are the only veggies I can get!0 -
Greek yogurt with some honey. I was never a yogurt person before. I always heard it is a good "diet food" and figured I would try it. I cannot stand regular yogurt - its gotta be Greek. I love it!0

Great ideas!
Is coconut oil healthy on salad? Sounds interesting.
I started snacking on almonds, baby carrots and grapes - quick, easy and tasty.
I also like a slice of Arnold Multi-Grain bread with a tablespoon of olive oil.
Sometimes I slice apples and sprinkle cinnamon on them.
A not-so-new healthy switch that I made (long before I joined this site) was to drink low-sodium V8 instead of orange juice. It's delicious and I don't miss OJ at all.
I like the sound of fresh apple and cinnamon.
Coconut oil is high calories which helps me meet my calorie goals but it is reputed to help with weight loss due to being a medium chain fatty acid. I must admit I have had no hunger problems so far and I wonder if its the oils I am choosing to add to my diet.

There is quite a few suggestions on this thread that I am looking forward to trying. Kale has to be next, never tried it and I read its incredibly good for you.0
