Need Tanning advice!!!
To start off: yes, i am well aware the health risk associated with tanning.
I'm going on a cruise to the Bahamas next month and I'm worried about my risk of sunburn. I'm an engineer and i live in the north east, so I am pretty much as pale as you can possibly be (There are vampires that have a higher sunlight tolerance than i do lol). Anyway, I know that since the sun is so strong there I'm more likely to burn despite how much i drench my skin in sunblock, so I'm considering taking a few trips to a tanning bed. I've never gone tanning in my entire life, so does anyone have any advice? How often should i go? what do i wear? any stuff like that would be helpful!
Thanks guys!

I was just about to start doing the same thing! Since you only have a month you may not get very "tan" but since you're goal is just to not burn once you get there then yes it will definitely help!
I would start off by only going for 2 minutes. Since this is your first time AND you don't have a high tolerance to sunlight then you will definitely get a little burnt if you go any longer than that.
I tan pretty well but naturally have very fair skin. Some tanning beds will suggest starting off 5 minutes, but the few times that I did that I got burnt on my butt cheeks and had to skip the next day. Since you have limited time I would go every day for the next month. Or maybe for 3 days then skip a day.
After doing the 2 minutes first, go for 3 minutes the next time, then 5 (maybe do that twice before moving on), then 8 minutes,10 minutes, and so on. Just go SLOW
I've tanned a few times and I always get ahead of myself and jump from 5 to 10 minutes and I always get red and itchy.
Another tip that may be obvious - put on lotion afterwards and stay hydrated!
I usually just go naked. I'm sure they'll have cleaner in there where you can sanitize the bed before and after. If you don't feel comfortable then your underwear or a swim suit would be sufficient!0
