But I am sort of confused about the whole 'eating your exercise calories' thing. I'm sort of plateauing and I want to keep losing. I've lost about 36 pounds with NOT eating my exercise calories...so now I'm afraid if I start to eat them, I'll gain. Is this something I should try or should I drop my calories? I'm currently at 1430/day.
Any of you hit a plateau? How did you get out of it?

Most plateus can be shaken by doing something different. Alter your workout, change what foods you're eating. If you tend to eat the same thing everyday try to switch it up. Our bodies get very efficient very quickly so you have to constantly change it up. As far as eating your workout cals, I usually eat some but not all --it just depends on the day. Some days I am hungrier than others, listen to your body.
My husband gave me a good visual. MFP gives you cals based on your goals which already include a deficit- then you work out and create more deficit - you need energy so you need to eat.
My BMR=1700-500= MFP calorie goal of 1200 then I work out and burn another 400 calories which would be 800 calories. This would not be a good long term strategy to eat 800 calories a day. I would lose weight initially but I would lose muscle which is NOT my goal!
Hope that helps.0 -
