Anyone have any good advice on making a change however small and making it stick????

Looking forward to this and making some changes that I need :)

just take it one day at a time and make yourself do it everyday! so if you want to start exercising, start with just 10 mins but do it everyday, don't let up for a day.. once you get some momentum going you can add more!
  • In the past, if I didn't exercise every day, I would eventually quit. If I figured on going three times a week, then the days in between when I didn't go I would get unmotivated and eventually just stopped going. But I joined the gym three weeks ago and have gone every day and I love it. I do it first thing in the morning at six and it sets my mood for the rest of the day. It makes me feel happier and I don't get as many cravings.

So I would say, whatever change you are trying to make, make sure you do it every day. Good luck!

I'm still in the process of becoming more healthier - but me 5 years ago wouldn't believe how healthy me now is.

1 step at a time is key!

If you try to eat better and exercise 3x/week and eat smaller portions and eat 5-6 meals/day and eat more vegetables and stop smoking and stop drinking too much and stop eating fast food and stop drinking soda all at once you'll probably fail. (trust me I did so many times it's almost funny).

Make your list of changes and tackle them one at a time. Start with a couple easy ones so you can cross them off your list and build some momentum. I did fast food first. Nothing else changed. I added exercise 2 days/week. Then I tried to quit smoking (oh the failures I had there! :smokin:). Try to be patient with yourself and forgive yourself when you fail. Just get back on that damned wagon and hang on for dear life. I made a lot of little (and some big) changes one at a time and they've all added up to me being much healthier and happier. Good luck! :flowerforyou:

The thing is to remember this is not a race. For some it is a life time change to be healthy. You kinda have to think of it as a re-training of all the things that got you here in the beginning. Some weight might come off fast at first the key is keeping that small amount off. Its okay if the second week you don't loose and you might gain a pound back. Never play around with your diet otherwise you could get the see-saw effect. Be kind to yourself and if you have a weak day or gain its okay,

Good luck and everyone is here for you when ever you need something!
  • Thank you all for your tips!! This kind of feedback is what I need and am looking for ! Have a great day
