BMR Calculator or MFP Recomendations?

I'm confused..... The BMR Calculator says I should be eating 1739 calories, MPF says 1580 to lose 1.5 pounds per week... Which should I go with?

  • If you did the BMR at your current weight, then that is how much you would need to consume to maintain.

    Actually, your BMR is the amount of calories your body burns when you lay in bed all day doing nothing. You should not eat below your BMR. Your TDEE is the amount of calories you would need to consume to maintain.

    Having cleared that up, MFP was way off on my calculator so I manually set it to my BMR. So my opinion is to eat your BMR and ignore what MFP says to eat.
  • Yeah MFP has a REALLY bad daily calorie intake calculator, I set mine myself using other BMR calculators.
