motivating kids

at my school we do a school wide walk/run at 1pm for 20 minutes on a path that goes around the whole school. I have been placed with a behaviour student who gets in trouble or hurts someone every day. he is 6 and i have come up with strategies to curb the behaviours but i cant get this kid to run more then one minute. today i held his hand the whole time and just kept telling him "you body wants to stop but your brain doesnt" and all kinds of stuff. I told him about track and felid in june and he wants to get a trophy and i told him he needs to "train"! today i got him to skip for about 5-7 minutes but he was huffing and puffing the whole time. he is as skinny as a rake with no co-ordination. any tips on how i can get this kid to run so i can burn some calories and he can burn some energy? keep in mind that we are usually in full snow gear.

his mother is all for him getting his energy out in any way possible. she has pretty much given up on everything and is willing to try anything we suggest if we are the ones to implement it. It is also a requirement of our ministry for elementary students have a minimum of 20 minutes of sustained moderate to vigorous physical activity each school day. Many students make it around 3 laps where as we are usually the last ones around and only making one lap.0
