calorie counts for different types of workout

I go to this class which is called "Boxing and kickboxing". I wanted to log the calories. So I went to the exercise tab and typed "kickboxing" - it found " judo, karate, kickboxing and smth else" and counted 685 calories for me. Which is quite a lot. Then I decided to look up "boxing" and selected "punching the bag" since I do not do any sparring. It counted 411 calories for me. That surprised me, because when I actually was taking karate classes, at the beginners level, it seemed that I seat much less than at the "boxing and kickboxing class". In a carate class, we spent some time sitting Japanese-style and watching other students perform kata in turn. So, what to believe?
