calories in/calories out.

I binged for about a week and a half. I stopped 2 days ago. And I'm talking a real binge, cake, McDonalds, pizza, ice cream, what else I'm not sure. I wasn't tracking so I can't tell you how much I went over each day...and although it might have just been 500 or so some days, it was certainly 1000 or more other days.
Also, zero exercise.

The interesting part of the story...for two days I ate properly and drank a lot of water so when i next weighed myself there wouldn't be significant water retention.... the result....

I went from 76.5 kg to 76.45.

Its almost nothing, but... that's a loss!


This is seriously going against calories in calories out....



Any pseudo-scientific guess as to what happened here?


I was eating 1200 Cal a day.
I worked an extra 7 hours that week but I just stand behind a counter.
Typically I am active at home cleaning up and doing random things, but I spent the week marathoning a TV series lol.
I started rehearsing a play, but its been a week of sitting reading the script, not actually getting up and walking around!
I can't think of anything else that is out of the ordinary.
Oh I was sleeping less than usual, 5 hours a night instead of 7,
And I've been having headaches 5 days of the week. (Which is the main reason I eat more...comfort)

    I'm no expert but there could be various explanations. 1200 calories/day may not be enough for you. You may need to up your calories. Are you eating back most of your exercise calories? Also, when you have a temporary increase in calories, it boosts your metabolism and increases leptin which are good for weight loss.

    You might spend some time searching the forums for discussions on things like spike days. I bet those discussions will answer a lot of your questions.

    If you were eating 1200 calories and went over by 500, that's just 1700 calories, which is less than what would maintain a weight of 76.5 kg (168lbs). If you had more 1700 days than 2200 days, it would make sense for you to maintain or lose. Also, I find that sometimes (NOT always) when I go back and track a binge it's much less bad than I thought it was. Sometimes (NOT always :P ) your innate hunger mechanism naturally limits how bad it can get.
