Exercise NSV

So today I experienced a pretty neat NSV relating to my fitness.

I been pretty hardcore the last few months with my routines, not compromising and finding a love for fitness. I definatly have my favorite things I do regularly. Well today, I had an appointment with a fitness trainer from my college in the a.m. Which is great because he pushes me to do crazy things I would normally never do.

I walk to school as my warm up, usually 25 minutes and 1.5 miles, each way. Then I workout my regular strength training (8 exercises 3 sets 10-12 reps), but also the trainers routine (just mondays) which is usually core and planks, lunges around the world, things of that nature. By the end I am a sweaty mess.

Well I also have spin class in the afternoon at 5p. So since I had done this workout so early and had to walk both there and back, by the time I got home I was understandably sore. But I wanted to do my spin class since I enjoy it so much, later in the day. So I compromised a little, and asked my father who was visiting if he wouldn't mind driving me back to the school so that I didn't have to walk a total of 6 miles today in addition to everything else cause I was "just a little" sore after working with the trainer.

My father, made this ridiculous comment! He said that he thought I should not be pushed so hard, that as a trainer he should have me stop short of hurting myself. I reminded him that planks are like 30 seconds, there isn't much to shave. Clearly he didn't understand the point of being sore as a good thing. This obviously wasn't his critical thinking moment.

He continued to argue with me, by saying to me that "Kristina, your not 20 anymore". Which I responded, (with a shear look of 'what the *expletive* are you taking about') "no dad I'm 31, and I can do Hapkido, spin, weights, walk miles in the cold all while curling just as much as most all 20 year olds in the same day. In fact, I don't think I know a 20 year old that can do that!"

Needless to say I had him drop me off to my spin class, which was not optional to not attend, as I LOVE this class, and then I walked home again.

All in all, I sort of laughed to myself. You know you've arrived when your arguing your fitness routine to someone else. You really know you have! I don't think I have ever been so defensive about what I "choose" to do. I just smiled on my way home, turned up my tunes and bounced my *kitten* home with a sense of welcomed satisfaction.
