Swimming pace

When I enter in swimming on the tracker I am not sure what the pace is for fast and moderate effort.

most of the time I am doing a rate of 10 lengths (250m) in 6 mins. I am up to 50 lengths none stop.

When the swimming pool is crowded my rate drops to 10 lengths in 8 mins as there is always someone who thinks the slow lane is for grannies only so they must be in the fast/medium lane. (mini rant included there)

    Hi :-)

No I am never sure either - I do a mile front crawl non stop in between 30 - 35 minutes. I put this as vigorous effort because it is more of an effort than I see most people at the pool putting in!!! This puts my heart rate up to about 160 / 170 (just taken roughly feeling my heart rate at my neck)

I keep looking at the new speedo gadget that records your calories as you swim but it is expensive - would love to hear if it is any good???
  • I dont think it has anything to do with pace, it's more about what effort you put in. I swim about 2K (and 250mtr extra these days) in an hour. I't slow, but I'm really pushing it for me. So I used to put in fast, but if I just swim at a comfortable pace, I would put in slow/ moderate pace.I bought a swimovate pool mate watch (it tracks time, spead, lenghts/laps, Calories, efficiency etc. And I fill it in manually with HRM).
