Stereotype, which one do you hate the most?

I hate that people think a person is dumb if they cannot read or write that well. I’ve never been good at reading and writing. No matter how hard I try, I just cannot pick up on reading and writing. But yet I have managed to finish the apprentice school, undergrad, working on finishing my master, and I’m steadily moving up in my career…but it never fails, when I run into one of my old classmates from high school. They always surprise at how well I’m doing. I ask them why? Their reason, because I remember in high school you could not read…SMH, I try to explain to them. That was one subject. All the rest of the subjects I was a B student or higher.

And your typing/spelling/grammer is brilliant compared to some people these days who can't tell the difference between too, to, two; you're, your etc. That really winds me up. And txt tlk when you don't need to! Your message wasn't long enough in the first place to ever run out of characters, stop using txt tlk!!!! Grr!

All stereotypes are stupid. You can't tell a book by it's cover so why a person how they look. And just because the same author wrote the book doesn't always mean the content of the book will be the same. Same for people brought up in specific social groups etc. Try getting to know the person first before passing judgement!! IF they turn out to be a carbon copy of a stereotype, then judge them (i.e. if they are blonde and genuinely stupid).

In my case, a stereotype that annoys me is that Jewish people are stingy with their money. EVERYONE can be stingy with their money. Some people are just better organised, and no one stayed 'rich' by giving their money away. If I had millions upon millions of £££, I would help charities etc, but I barely have enough to cover my bills. That does not make me stingy!

I agree roguex - we Scots are labelled as 'tight-fisted' with our money. I, and everyone I know, am extremely generous with my/our money. I won't throw it away, but by and large, if I have, and you need (or even want, if I can), you get. Unless it's stupid stuff that's not good for you (the exception to THAT being alcohol - I'm afraid that's a stereotype that in the main is true - we do like our drink!).

Not even sure if this makes sense, so OP, you're doing fine!!!

That annoys me as well. Another thing which annoys me which is quite similar is that if someone is unaware of a certain piece of knowledge, they must be "dumb." Maybe they simply weren't exposed to something <.<
