Going to be out of action for awhile

On Thursday I'm going into hospital for 2 operations on my right arm (I am right handed) which is going to put me out of action for a few weeks.

I have already been told by my specialist that I won't be able to go to the gym and was wondering if anybody has any suggestions of how I can somehow keep up my fitness.

Now that I have been motivated over the past month to get fit again and have been going to the gym Mon-Fri I don't want to get out of the habit of having some kind of routine.

My friend is looking after my horses for me as I won't even be able to drive to get to them, so can't even maintain any fitness there :(

Any suggestions would be helpful

Thanks
Tracey

Ask your doctor if he can send you to a physical rehab-type place that has supervised workouts. It depends on why he doesn't want you working out- is it circulation he's worried about? Strain on the hand? Workouts taking nutrition from your recovery? Perhaps if you can work with a personal trainer who has experience dealing with post-operative and other special needs exercisers, your doctor might sign off on it.

Failing that- walking is a good workout that can help you keep your routine but without taxing your already-taxed recovering body.
