Anyone know how to find more people around your area into the working out? Besides the gym- Can't afford that right now each month. None of my friends are into working out and being healthy- Wanna start running 5K's this summer and a few other things.. It'd be nice to have other people there too!

Maybe put an ad on Craigslist? Something about looking for like minded people to start a fitness group? Ok so you might encounter some weirdos. I don't know if you belong to a church or a club or activities such as a book club, crafting, sports, selling things like avon or what not but if you do maybe you can round of some fitness buddies that way?

I probably am not one to talk, I pretty much work out alone myself.

You could start by searching MFP for members in your area. Go to "Find Members" and put in your zip code. Hope this helps :)

Also, just show up at the parks/trails/etc. where people run in your area - you're bound to bump into other runners and you can spark up convo.

I just started signing up for races by myself. Each race I ran, I made a new friend! And I would always post stuff about it on facebook, and discovered friends of mine who I wasn't particularly close with who happened to like to run and work out. Now we're a lot closer, and I have running buddies!
