Think crust, veggies on it is problably about the healthiest. Otherwise, have a slice or two with a salad. i ate at a pizza buffet last week and was still w/in my calories cuz I had oatmeal for breakfast and soup for lunch.

Thin crust, and put lots of veggies on it. If grandson won't eat the veg, only put them on your half. Order or make a side salad to fill you up, so that you only eat one or at most 2 slices. Enjoy!

Thin crust and no meat will lower the calories.
  • I always get pizza huts thin crust veggie lovers or chicken and veggies. Hubbie and kids like it too.

Load it up on veggies. And order a salad, too, to fill up some on that (use your own dressing, just oil & vinegar) before devouring too many pieces.

Why in the world would you want to eat a healthy pizza? That's like going to the bank just to get candy. It just doesn't make sense, does it?

You can usually ask for low fat cheese, or no cheese at all! Plenty of vegetables, no salty meats!
    Mmmmmm pizza, enjoy!

I got a thin crust w/ ricotta and fresh tomatoes instead of mozzerella. See if you can get him a kids pizza and get yourself a personal. Or if that doesn't work ask for light on the cheese and lots of veggies. Do a 1/2 and 1/2, it's pretty easy. Depending on where you go you should be able to get pretty healthy.
  • Thin crust as others have mentioned and ask if they have a whole wheat crust. I have a whole wheat thin crust recipe that's great and can be prepared and frozen for days like this.

Thin crust, even better if where you're ordering from (or going to) offers a whole wheat crust (I think Papa John's might offer that). Ask for lots of veggies and if they can go easy on the cheese/sauce, that's good too. Pizza doesn't have to be terrible for you (which means you get to eat it a whole lot more often, win-win I say!)

    Simple
Avoid toppings like meatballs and sausage and blot the oil.
My wife orders pizza w/o cheese, apparently after watching Super Bowl coverage, so does Madonna.
  • I think that pizza is made mostly with healthy ingredients. It's just that you can't have alot of it. Maybe one slice. I know that's really hard to do though, eat just one. In fact, it's nearly impossible!

no cheese, lots of veggies, no meat, thin whole wheat crust? Or order it with the cheese and eat less.

OK. I looked up this place and now I am SAD. It sounds yummy but the closest one is 361.4 miles away. Do you think they would deliver???

I get my son a personal pizza and I order a salad and an individual slice of pizza.
  • Lots of veggies and no meat and not a ton of cheese. I don't know where you're ordering from, but you can look calories up online for some places. My mom gets a pizza from Peace a Pizza that has artichokes, bell peppers, mushrooms, tomatoes, onion, and broccoli on it. Yum!

    ^^^This.
  • I make my own healthy pizzas...I realize this might not be an option for you tonight, but I always keep a couple of Boboli whole wheat pizza crusts in my freeezer. Then I can make whatever I want. It's cheaper & faster than ordering delivery. Usually I go white - garlic & olive oil, but any kind of red sauce would be good too. The possibilities are endless!!! Spinach, artichokes, sun dried tomatoes, red onion slices, black olives, ANY kind of veggie....I could go on & on. I basically just go with whatever I have on hand. As for the cheese, low fat mozzerella and/or Feta. I am making one of these pizzas tomorrow night & already loaded it into my recipe builder on MFP. If a pizza is cut up into 8 slices, with 2 cups of mozzerella, each serving is 217 calories. I plan to eat 2 slices & a big salad. Here are some more awesome ideas for pizza toppers:

    Goat cheese
    slices of tomatoes
    chicken
    basil or pesto
    zuccini
    asparagus
    mild pepper rings

You get the picture!!! You can also keep on hand some pepperoni or what ever toppings your grandson might like & just make half of the pizza with what he likes & the other half what you like!! Or better yet, make two whole pizzas, one for him & one for you & then freeze what's left for another time.

How about not letting children who are too young to make sensible healthy food choices dictate what food should be eaten in your home!

But if I really do want a pizza that badly, which is rare, I make it myself: thin crust, loads of veggies, minimal cheese, plus a small amount of high calorie / high taste items such as a few olives / anchovies.

Don't know how old he is, but I bet he'd love learning how to make pizza - plus he could shape any leftover dough into the first letter of his name, my nephews used to love doing stuff like that.

    1. thin crust
    2. more people/find someone who will take the remaining pizza off your hands so you'll only eat 1 slice!
