advice on workout routine

Options
I've been doing MFP for a month now. Almost everyday, in the AM, I do 25-30 minutes on my treadmill (which offers no elevation increase) 1/3 of it is jogging, the rest is a fast walk. Last week I picked up a resistance band system to incorporate strength training into my efforts. I'm signed up to do a 5K mud run w/obstacles in August, so I need to both increase how long I can run and upper body strength. I am seeking advice on how often I should do each of these workouts to maximize my weight loss, and performance. Thanks in advance for the help!

Do the Couch to 5k program, if you can run a 5k you can surely march 5k no problem.

Do push ups, pull ups, dips, and pendlay rows to get a stronger upper body.

Strength training your lower body will cause your upper body to also get stronger. think of it like brushing your teeth if they are all clean and strong then they are less likely to get cavities, but if you have 1 cavity chances are you are soon going to have another, unless you start addressing the issue.
