Shin splint on one leg only??

I do not have a diagnosis of shin splints, but I have had it in the past, and I know this is a similar feeling.

After jogging/walking the last three days, I have some tightness and soreness on my left leg above the foot only. - not on the right.
I have new shoes, so I'm pretty sure that's not it.

could the slop of a road be enough to cause this, or could there be another reason?

I'm going to try some heel and toe walking and icing to strenghten the muscles and deal with any swelling, but I'm open to any other suggestions.

Thanks!

I had something similar I'm just getting over. When you move your foot up and down does it "creak" at all in the front part of your foot?

nope, no creaking or sharp pain. just soreness on the outer shin.

when I flex down its fine, but when I flex upward it hurts more.

    any thoughts?

I had shin splint on right leg only. Thought it was a tumor, and it was from using a cheap stepper that banged on the floor a bit. Now I go to a gym and use the good stuff.

Non-impact is the way to go until it goes away. I do elliptical and spinning.
