Hi, I did a search a few weeks back because I was having some problems with my Polar FT4 HRM losing signal halfway through a workout, I was getting the "Check Heart Rate Transmitter!" message, despite following care instructions as per guidelines. It seems that this is a pretty common problem and I may have found a solution.

On the Polar website there is an instructional video which shows someone in the bathroom washing the strap using liquid hand soap, which is what I was doing after my work out (actually, I started doing it before the workout which made sure it was thoroughly wet too) as I was working out on the cross trainer in my bedroom. More recently I've been working out downstairs and so I wash the strap in the kitchen using washing up liquid and it's been working absolutely fine the whole time, but the few times I've used liquid hand soap it's cut out halfway through the workout.

I don't know if it's a coincidence, but I thought I'd share anyway.
