Hi, I would like to pick up a kindle strength training book - to read on the train.

There is one called:

Strength Training for Women - by Lori Incledon

Any idea if it's any good? Any suggestions on a good book?

I've bought Making the Cut by Jillian Michaels

Thanks :)

Just saw a recommendation on here for:

The New Rules of Lifting for Women: Lift Like a Man, Look like a Goddess, by Lou Schuler (et al).

this is avaiable on Kindle and looks good - anyone back up this recommendation?

I have New Rules. My only complaint with the Kindle (I have the keyboard) is that it's not easy to quickly flip between pages. I'll likely buy the book in hard copy when I start following the plan.

There are a lot of recommendations for this book on here. I asked a question a few weeks ago if it would be a good idea to buy it for my e-reader (I had a coupon), the general consensus was that you have to flip through the workout list, to the part where it shows the work out, which would be a pain on the e-reader. But if you can live with that, as I mentioned, the book is highly recommended.

Can def back up New Rules, though no idea about the kindle edition specifically. The info is fairly simple and straightforward. The selling point are the workouts that are rather structured and take you through 6 months.

A friend of mine likes the Incledon book, too.

Ah ok, can see that could be a downside. :ohwell: I'm buying with a xmas giftcard so might still get it, will have a read of the sample I've downloaded and go from there. lol

Thanks everyone - good to know the other one is well thought of.
6 month plan could be a good thing as I still have a lot of body fat to shift - did a measurement at boots today on their scales. lol

I recommend New Rules of Lifting for Women too...idk how well you will be able to see the pictures of the exercises and the charts on the e-reader version though. I have the Kindle on my phone and I got Tom Venuto's "Body Fat Solution" about 4 months ago. It's pretty good too. I haven't read it but I've also seen Starting Strength (Rippetoe) recommended a lot on here.

Thanks, the body fat solution looks good. I've got the kindle on my netbook so can read it that way, it doesn't have an app for my blackberry phone I don't think.. though the battery isn't too hot for that so the netbook would work better. :)

Looks good for still keeping me on track of cutting fat % down. I was a similar weight to what I am now in my early 20's when I was as fit and active as anything, I lifted weights, swam every lunchtime, ran, did 3 exercise classes a week.. yet never lost weight so shows how bad my diet (and drinking in those days too) was, so I'm hoping now I can be fitter but lower my body fat % and inturn that'll lowe my weight... in time.
  • I currently have NROLFW on my kindle and it is difficult to follow especially once you start the program. I am getting the book from the library to get the workouts. I would recommend getting New Rules in book version.

Another good book is Jackie Werner "This is Why you are Fat" not sure if it is available in kindle version.
