Hello everyone!! I am excited about this site and hopefully I will be able to lose weight!! I am 174lbs and want to get down to 145.. So if anyone has some helpful tips and advice that would be wonderful!! Also when you have used your carb amount and you still have calories left do you go over your carb amount because you still have calories left or do you just stop right there when one category is filled up? I hope everyone has a good day!!

Welcome to the site!! My advice is to watch your portion sizes. You can still eat the foods you really want but have a tea-cup of ice cream rather than a bowl0

I just try to stay in or under my calories and don't pay too much attention to the other stats. I only pay attention to those when I'm having an issue... like still being hungry after eating my calories then I checkout my protien to sugar ratio. But other than that just ignore the other stats to begin with.
Just my opinion.

Welcome to MFP! This site is such an eye opener to make us accountable for everything we put in our bodies! I hope you have great luck with it.
I think the best thing aside from this site for me is buying a food scale. I had no idea how much I was over eating on cereal each day. I used measuring cups before, but now I use the scale and see fab results!

Welcome :flowerforyou: You are starting where I started from.......
- Drink lots of water
- Eat filling nutritious foods
- Eat your earned exercise calories
- Think of this as a lifestyle change, not just a diet
- Don't expect it to happen overnight
- Don't weigh yourself 50 times a day....it will just drive you crazy
- Oh and weight train as well as doing lots of cardio
