Hello everyone,
This is my first time ever publishing anything in a public forum like this. I found this website on the advice of a friend at work, and thus far I am really loving it. I just wanted to introduce myself and hopefully get some good conversations started. My story is like many I suppose. I used to be in really good shape, and fell off the program after an injury. It used to be that I could run 13 miles without any problem, but runners knee has slowed me down a bit. I welcome any advice from anyone that has this condition on other ways to keep the cardio up without making the situation worse. One would think that being in Florida I would have an abundance of public swimming pools around, but there is actually only one nearby that would suit my needs and it is an expense I just can't add on top of my gym membership. So anyway...... Hello and I welcome any and all advice.

Welcome!!! I do not have any knee problems but I find that the Elliptical is good. It is very low impact and you can get a really good workout. Good luck...0

Take it slow and don't do anything you won't be able to stick with long term. Its about a healthy lifestyle and not a short term diet.
Small changes make a big difference over the long run. Healthy foods and portion control.0 -

2nd - WELCOME hahaha
best bit of advice i can give --- log everything. even if you have a bad day and eat something terrible. x0 -
Get MFP friends. Not just people you know, but people you dont who have the same fitness goals, even if they are at a different level.
I was on here for about 6 months, spratically. Once I friended people, it made logging on so much easier and fun. I like seeing how everyone is doing and giving/receiving encouragement. It really helps.0 -
Thank you for the advice everyone. Jumping in to quickly has been a problem for me in the past. I tend to go too hard and that is not sustainable. I will absolutely add friends on here. I think that kind of mutual support would probably be a good thing. As to living in FL. I do have to say that it makes it a lot easier to focus on being in shape year round. When I was In Jersey we alwasy took the winter off! lol0
