Elbow Pain .... HELP

I need some help from my fellow MFP weight lifting friends.
I had begun working out at the gym back in June and incorporated weight lifting for strength training.
About a month ago while performing dumbbell curls my left elbow began to experience a slight pain.
I worked through it and it seemed to go away, but the next time I went to workout I felt it again and it has gotten progressively worse.
I'm not certain if it is tennis elbow or not, but it hurts when ever you move your arm in the curling motion.
If I try to hold anything at arms length like removing a carton of milk from the fridge it hurts worse.
When I am bench pressing it doesn't bother me.
I have tried to rest it during the last two weeks, and have not done any curls.
Any ideas on what I can do to get over this faster?
Are there any good elbow braces that might help?
I'm hoping there are a few of you with similar experiences with your elbows and you can let me know what worked for you.
Thanks!

I've had this same problem before, you've most likely over trained, causing tendonitis or even worse tendonosis.
Most likely you've over trained. Don't do a single curl for the next month. Drink plenty of water, supplements like MSM, glucosamin, and chondriotin do wonders for your joints and tendons, and you can often find them mixed all into one fair priced pill.
If you NEED to work your biceps find a lift that won't hurt your elbow, give chin ups a try.0 -
Thanks for that advise.

Have you thought of seeing a Chiropractor? Adjustments, ultrasound, and muscle stimulation all made a huge difference. Also, the wrong grip during squats can put stress on the elbows and cause tendonitis type pain. Check out Rippetoe's Starting Strength site. He has a video on squat and bar grip.0

Sounds like tennis elbow or tendonitis it me. I've been dealing with it since August and regret waiting until October to get any real treatment. Tried anti-inflammatories first, then a cortisone shot. When the cortisone stopped working I went to physical therapy for seven weeks and then because it still wasn't healed all the way another cortisone shot. Hoping this will finally be it.0

What did the physical therapy entail ?
Did you go to a sports medicine doctor?0
