Eggs abd Cholesterol

Hi everyone--wondering how often you guys eat eggs. I have cholesterol in the normal but high normal range, if that makes sense, and have been told to watch my cholesterol for the future. However, I love eggs, I would basically eat them for 3 meals a day. I notice whenever I do have an egg, I go over on my cholesterol. Anyone in the same situation?

I eat lots of eggs and my good cholesterol is high and my bad cholesterol is low. My doc said there is nothing to worry about.
I do try and skip the yolk sometimes but not always.
Try eating more things that are said to lower your cholesterol levels maybe...0 -

I'd ask your doctor mainly because you stated it is normal to high. I eat 3 eggs every day and my cholesterol is fine.0

I have high cholesterol and I am on medication. I have been eating one egg per day lately and my cholesterol has been fine, but I eat very lean meats usually and if I cook with any kind of oil its just a tsp or two of EVOO or I use cooking spray. Lately, I have not been in the red on cholesterol. If you want to eat more than one, have you considered mixing one whole egg with 1 egg white? I have done that for recipes and it works well. And you probably wouldn't notice that it was mostly egg white.0

I switched to egg whites. I make omelets with either spinach and tomato or peppers, onions and tomatoes. They are obivously not as good as whole eggs. But just like Chocolate cake is better then a celery stick you have to make sacrifices for better health. Once in a while I'll add a whole egg but the Cholesterol and fat are just too much for me and not worth it. :drinker:0

Cholesterol is critical to brain function and to life. Our bodies make a hell of a lot more cholesterol than we eat. Every cell in our body makes cholesterol and our brains has it's own cholesterol making cells (glial cells) because our brain is full of cholesterol and HDL/LDL can't break the blood-brain barrier. The more cholesterol you eat the less your body will make (and vice versa).
The egg is soon to be a baby chick. It has no access to mama for nutrition. And the main components are protein, saturated fat and cholesterol. Three things critical to life. Cholesterol is the body's "duct tape". Elevated cholesterol levels indicate an underlying problem - inflammation! Remove what is causing the inflammation. And LDL isn't "bad" cholesterol. In fact LDL and HDL aren't even cholesterol. They carry cholesterol. The size of LDL is what counts. Small dense LDL are a risk factor for heart disease. Large fluffy LDL aren't. Carbs create small and dense and saturated fat creates large, fluffy.
DON'T EVER TAKE STATIN DRUGS. ESPECIALLY AS A FEMALE. STUDIES DONE ON STATINS SHOWED VERY LITTLE BENEFIT TO MEN (only men with prior history or high risk of heart attack or heart disease) AND NO BENEFIT TO WOMEN. WOMEN TAKING STATIN DRUGS TO LOWER CHOLESTEROL WILL NOT MAKE THEM LIVE ANY LONGER. PEOPLE WHO SUCCUMBED TO HEART DISEASE WERE EVER MORE LIKELY TO HAVE LOW CHOLESTEROL. THERE IS NO CONNECTION TO HIGH CHOLESTEROL AND HEART DISEASE.

Yup, which is why I use Egg Beaters or just egg whites now but I have high cholesterol so trying to be more careful.0

Hi there. I love eggs, as well - usually end up eating at least 2-3 a day. I always keep a bowl of hard-boiled eggs in the frig, and find them a GREAT snack. Just one hb egg fills me up and keeps the hunger at bay until my next meal. I eat only the white - toss the yolk into the trash.
I also am on cholesterol med, but my doctor told me not to worry about eggs.

I feel that eggs have a bad reputation but its actually quite good for you. Great source of protein and have nutrients like B12, folate and others. I think anything in excess is not good for you so eat it in moderation. For me its an easy breakfast option so I'll usually have 1 hard boiled egg & white every other day or so.0

Thanks guys--it's just that I was looking at my diary and realized I rarely have other sources of cholesterol and still my doc says watch the cholesterol--so I thought it might be the eggs. Sounds like it's just genetics. Oh well!0

I just talked to a doctor about cholesterol on Monday. He said an occasional egg would not raise my bad cholesterol, as long as I don't eat multiple everyday. He said the best thing would be to avoid red meat because the fat and is marbled into the meat and it's hard to trim it off. Also he said to not eat the skin on white meat like chicken and turkey. treat yolks like the fat they are,
I am an adult, I choose to eat egg whites0
