If a recipe calls for....

....shrimp, fish or any other types of seafood, what would be a good substitution. I *hate* seafood - nothing that ever swam will touch my lips - but the meal plan I'm on suggests several meals made with tilapia or shrimp. What would be equal in nutrients? Thanks!

I'd sub plain chicken breast.0

I'd sub plain chicken breast.
I have been, but it's getting old:/ I guess there's not much else & I shouldn't be picky.0 -
Could you use turkey, or very lean beef?0

Unfortunately if you can't stomach seafood chicken is about all you have left. I'm okay with Tilapia but it's SO SO bland even with crazy seasonings. I've found that I can eat it better if I pour a little balsamic vinegar over it.0 -
how about tofu?0

The only tofu I've ever eaten are the tiny cubes they put in miso soup. I understand it has no flavor. True?0

I was going to say tofu, too. It doesn't really have much flavor but tends to pick up the flavor of everything around it. It's usually really good in stirfries because of that. :-)0

I'm going to get some tofu on my next grocery shopping trip. It's worth a try - thanks!0

Can you eat pork?0

butternut squash. It cooks relatively quickly and holds it's shape. It's also sweet like shrimp.
When I was a vegetarian, I used it often as a sub.0 -

be sure to get the firm/extra firm kind or it will fall apart! the kind in miso is usually silken, which i love the texture of, but it is no good in a dish that requires structure.
you could also give tempeh a shot if you haven't already?0 -

Equal to the nutrients in seafood? You won't find anything. Seafood is high in good fats, vitamin D, b12, etc. There really is no perfect tradeoff for it.
Why not just try to make your own recipes? There is no reason you need to use online recipes exclusively.0 -
