Good sugar vs bad sugar?

I've been tracking my food for a month now and sticking mostly to whole foods. I have serious sweet tooth and have tried to limit myself to one sweet treat a day after dinner (like a mini candy bar) but I still manage to go way over on sugar. The sugar mostly comes from fruit i use in a smoothie. Is it ok to discount natural sugar sources? I make my own energy bars and salad dressings to prevent extra sugar there but I feel like cutting down on fruit to reduce sugar intake defeats the purpose of being healthy.

Personally I would only count the sugar from unnatural or not whole foods. Fruit has a lot of sugar but it grows that way. there's a huge difference between an apple and a snickers bar.0
