Hello friends! Just a qucik question for all of you knowledable MFP friends out there!
I have an EKHO Fit9 Heart Rate Monitor that I am using. Nothing fancy. I got it two years ago online for around $60 bucks or so. Anyway, I lost the manuel, but it does calculate date, time, Max Heart Rate, Average Heart Rate, and how many calories burned. But I'm wondering HOW is it accurately calculating my calories burned if it doesn't have my enter in my weight, height and age?? Maybe not all HRM's don't need that info??
For example, I am on my first week of Insanity this week, and last night I did the Purre Cardio Party CD and my HRM said I burned 164 calories in 40 minutes. I'm female, 5'4" and 149lbs. My average heart rate doing Insanity last night on my HRM said it was 143 and my maximum was 184. But when I go to websites where you put in your weight, height, age, sex, amount of minutes worked out, and average heart rate during workout, it tells me I burned 357? I'm just so confused.
Did I burn 164 or 357? I was feeling like 164 was so low as hard as I was working! haha.
I would really appreciate any help or comments. Maybe my HRM is just a cheap one that doesn't need my personal info or maybe I am not finding how to put it in?
Thanks Friends!

I'm guessing the accuracy is about zero if it doesn't have you enter in basic stats. A 300lb man can burn two or three times the calories as a 100lb woman, doing exactly the same exercise.
My suggestion? Get the best Polar you can afford.0
