Heart Rate Question?

Can anyone help me with Heart Rates? When I start running my heart rate goes from 89 to 170 in a matter of minutes. When I slow down and bring it to 140 and try to maintain it at 157 (which is my maximum heart rate) it still rockets up.
I do have sports enduced asthma, so my inhaler doesn't help.
How can I go the distance maintaining my maximum heart rate? without having to stop. And how long should I go with a high heart rate? before I stop?
Trying to train for a marathon and this heart rate thing has me all confused. :grumble:

Your measuring device is likely off. If not, see your cardiologist. You should not be training above your maximum heart rate.0
