Hi,
I have just been diagnosed with PCOS. I usually follow a relitavely low carb diet. I workout about 3-4 times a week (when im being good) and walk alot. I am 5ft 1.5inches.. yes the half inch does count!! I currently weigh 138lbs. That puts me about 4lbs above the "normal" BMI. I hope to have lost this weight in the next couple of weeks
I now know why I have had to work extra hard to lose weight and my when I have anything sugary that I fight cravings all day long to have more. I usually workout super hard and have loads of energy but I didnt realise that my weight loss could have been impacted by any condition.
I was diagnosed with this condition after a scan at a fertility specialist following 2.5yrs of trying for a baby. I started metformin as prescribed by my gynae today and have to increase it each week. and apart from some lightheadedness i think its going ok
Im just wondering if anyone has any good advice on a diet to help the condiiton, control insulin and blood sugar levels and ultimately help me get pregnant ;-)
Any advice appreciated!!

What works for me--and controls my mood and energy and frequent headaches--is sticking strictly to a low glycemic index diet. I cannot tell you just how life altering it was for me to find that this is what I needed to do.
Also, with baby #1 we tried for over a year before trying clomid (it was successful). This time we sortaI tried 2 cycles and BAM! Pregnant! I believe strongly that my diet helped tremendously.
My doctor recommendended a Mediterranean diet, as well.
Good luck! You know I'm rooting for you!0 -
