I don't write in forums very often but I wish I could join every single "weight-focused" website and "type at the top of my lungs" to go and purchase Marianne Williamson's "A COURSE IN WEIGHT LOSS".

This book is like nothing you have ever read before. For those of us who are calorie obsessed, weight and image obsessed, and hard on ourselves- your answer doesn't lie in MyFitnessPal. I love this site, but there is a greater help out there and it lies within the pages of this book.

I am not a spiritual person nor have I ever been a big "believer" in the Man upstairs. despite that, this book helps you see your weight loss journey in a COMPLETELY new way.

Interestingly enough, this book was written for Oprah (as the author and Oprah have a strong friendship). Oprah has stressed the importance of this book many times as being the biggest contributor to her final decision to stop letting food rule her life.

This book is ESPECIALLY helpful for those out there (like me) who tend to OVEREAT (binge) and then experience tremendous guilt.

I truly hope that you will consider purchasing this book and giving it a try. My personal favorite chapter is "Start a Love Affair with Food". That chapter changed my life. Sounds exaggerated- but I really mean it.

Best of luck to you all on your individual journies. :)
Please let me know if you have already read this book, and what you thought of it.

xo Jenny

Oh, great, I love book tips. I started my weight loss journey after reading Geneen Roth's "Women, Food and God", so I know how incredibly meaningful a book can be, as well as an incredible tool for working through underlying issues.

I don't consider MFP a weight-focused website. I consider a fitness-focused website. To me, fitness means making a lifestyle change instead of going on a diet. Incorporating exercise for fun and fitness and making fitness goals your focus, not the scale. Losing weight slowly and healthy in order to maintain your lean body mass (LBM). Knowing that there are no bad foods and that you can still enjoy pie, pizza, whatever while losing weight in a healthy manner without any kind of guilt or creating a stall or a gain. That you need to eat enough to keep your metabolism burning hot and to properly fuel your body. And I learned all of this from MFP.

It may be a great book but I think you can learn all this by immersing yourself in the forums starting with reading the stickies in this section.
