What are you doing for Lent?

With Lent coming up I've been trying to decide what I'll give up this year. I've realized though that it's not all about giving things up but about changing something about yourself. I'm thinking this year I will insert something into my life that isn't there right now - maybe taking my daughter for a walk every night or something like that.

What will you be doing for Lent?

Usually I give up candy, but I haven't had candy in so long, I don't really think it would count this year. I am thinking just doing something extra, like reading the Bible more or reading the Bible more to my kids... or both.

I ALWAYS clean the lent filter! I don't want there to be a fire.

I have been thinking about it too. I usually give up a food item, but since I am eating healthy, I don't think it will have the same meaning.

So I am not going to curse- which is so so so hard for me. I curse a lot.

And I am going to try to yell less. I have three boys and find myself yelling a lot. I need to find other ways to express my frustration.

I actually gave up saying anything negative one year (I was in my 20s at the time)...It was truly life changing!

I agree it is always better to add to your spiritual life rather than remove something (often trivial). If spending time with your daughter is an area of your life that needs attention, I think you have found a perfect answer already! :flowerforyou:

    Peace,

  • I will have to think about this. Food (candy, sweets etc) have usually figured high on my sacrifice. Hmmmm...
