I see people post the word "bump" on topic threads and I don't know what that does?

anyone know?

Thanks!

People put bump either to get the topic to save in their "my topics" list or to move the thread up in the list of threads.

It keeps the topic at the top of the recent posts list so more people are likely to see it, so you're trying to 'bump' it up in priority.

    People do this when
    a) they are interested in a topic someone else posted (e.g. they are curious about the topic too but don't have an answer)
    b) they are the author of the thread and it hasn't gotten many responses so they bump it to hopefully get more people to see it

Edit: @scsedey143, it never occurred to me to use bump to get it saved in My Topics. Great tip!
